Saturday, March 29th, 2003  Lora del Rio – Sevilla, 76km.

All morning there was a fine, hardly perceivable drizzle. Nonetheless I had to put on my rain gear. The olive plantations disappeared there were more fields of grain. I saw the first eucalyptus trees which to me means the south, and warmth. As I rode into Sevilla the display board at the big crossing (or Rotonden) showed 20 degrees (centigrade) at 15.00, perfect weather for cycling. With my cell-phone I had reserved accommodation for two days. Last year, when I started my “Ruta de la Plata” trip in Sevilla on April 21st, it was 30 degrees, which is really to hot for cycling. I had seen the Giralda and the cathedral last year and the Reales Alcazares was closed. I’ll go there tomorrow. Anyone interested in botany should definitely take a walk in the Maria Luisa Park where one can admire a collection of exotic trees from all over the world.
