Thursday, March 27th, 2003 – day of rest.
At 7:00 a. m. someone in the neighbouring room was a bit loud, but I went back to sleep. To my horror, the next
time I woke up it was already 10:30 – and I had so many things planned! Probably I needed the sleep, and in principle,
I never take an alarm clock on vacation. First the Mezquita, then Puente Romana with Torre de la Calahorra, Alcazar
de los Reyes Cristiana and the Internet Café were on my program. One day of rest is not enough in Cordoba,
especially if one oversleeps. Anyway, it was a nice day. The Mezquita was particularly impressing. A pity
they build a cathedral right in the middle of it. In that regard I am in complete agreement with Carlo V. whose
opinion was “It’s a foreign body that man should have build somewhere else”.
