Winschoten - Westerstede 90 Km. Monday, 14. 06. 04.

A cosy "Ostfriesen Teestube" (tea-room)

Pedestrian district in Leer

In Winschoten we first call in at the supermarket. We cover ourselves for the next few days with biscuits they don't sell in Germany. Dutch biscuits aresomewhat special.

Soon we leave Holland. In the first German city Leer we take a break. It is worthwhile to visit this beautiful village. We found a restaurant at the port, which offers an "Ostfriesen" speciality "Teekännchen mit Stöfchen" (a cup of tea) which we try out. Candy sugars and cream belong to it.

We continue with the Fehnroute. A beautiful route through pastureland, small woods and villages. Pleasant, this flat land, and tailwind makes it easy to ride. The youth hostel in Westerstede offers a lovely twin-bed room
